The first ever VH1 Divas concert aired live on VH1 on April 14, 1998 from the Beacon Theatre in New York, NY with performances from Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, Shania Twain, Carole King, Celine Dion and Gloria Estefan.
Mariah opened the show with her hit songs “My All” and “Make It Happen” as well as a being the only one to duet with Aretha Franklin — on Aretha's “Chain Of Fools.” The whole cast sang “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “Testimony” during the finale. The concert was released on CD and DVD on October 6, 1998.
Mariah was one of the headliners of VH1 Divas 2000: A Tribute To Diana Ross — An Honors Concert For The VH1 Save The Music Foundation concert, taped at New York City's Madison Square Garden on April 9, 2000 and first aired on April 11, 2000. Mariah opened the show performing a medley of “Heartbreaker” and Diana Ross's “Love Hangover.” She also sang “Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme),” a duet with Diana Ross on “BabyLove / Stop! In The Name Of Love” and took part in the finale singing “Ain't No Mountain High Enough.”
The concert never saw a commercial release, but Mariah's performance of “Love Hangover / Heartbreaker” was included on the “Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)” CD single as well as on the digital “Heartbreaker” EP, released in 2020.
VH1 Divas Holiday: Unsilent Night — a holiday-themed celebration of music and pop-culture's greatest divas — was recorded on December 2, 2016, at New York City's Kings Theater and aired on VH1 on December 5, 2016. Mariah returned to the Divas stage after 16 years for her third appearance, performing “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” The show featured performances by Patti LaBelle, Chaka Khan and Vanessa Williams, among others.
