Mariah headlined and hosted the third annual A Home for The Holidays special on CBS on December 21, 2001. The telethon-like program, taped November 3 in Los Angeles, also featured performances by Destiny's Child, Enrique Iglesias, Mandy Moore, Charlotte Church and Josh Groban. “It was really nice to perform for the kids and the families,” Mariah told Entertainment Tonight. “Some of the stories that we've heard about even just for the show only being on the air for three years and the families that have come together from this very show — it's incredible.”
Actors Dustin Hoffman and Patricia Heaton and figure skater Scott Hamilton presented real-life stories of adoption success stories. The program was a joint venture between the Wendy's restaurants owner Dave Thomas' Foundation for Adoption and the Children Action Network.
