Around The World features footage from Mariah's 1998 Butterfly Tour, which visited Japan, Taiwan, Australia and Hawaii, and saw Mariah performing some of her biggest hits including “Fantasy,” “Hero,” “My All” and “I'll Be There” — including a very special performance of the song “Hopelessly Devoted To You,” from the Grease movie soundtrack, with Olivia Newton-John.
The home video also includes two performances at New York's intimate Spy Bar: “I Still Believe” and “Whenever You Call,” with Brian McKnight; as well as backstage footage from Mariah's massive in-store appearance at New York's Virgin Megastore and her party for fans at Webster Hall celebrating the release of #1's.
Mariah Carey Around The World originally aired on December 15, 1998, on UPN and was released on VHS and DVD on April 24, 1999. It became available digitally on December 7, 2021.
