Mariah worked very closely with Allure on their debut album, writing and/or producing three of the songs on the album. Allure themselves confirmed that, despite not being credited, Mariah layered her vocals with the group's for the background parts on some of the songs.
One of the songs from Allure's debut album was “Last Chance,” written by Mariah and Cory Rooney. “Mariah wrote a song called ‘Last Chance,’ which is a very typically Mariah, big sounding ballad,” Allure told Blues & Soul in 1997. “She sort of fooled us with that one because when she originally played it to us, it had her vocals on it and we automatically assumed it was for her. It was a really strong song and we said, ‘Wow, that's really beautiful. It's a great song’ and she commented, ‘Good, I'm glad you like it, because you're singing it… tomorrow!’ ” Mariah's version of the song has never been released.
Mariah also recorded the reference vocals for Full Force's “All Cried Out,” when it was presented to the song's original songwriters. The song would eventually be covered by Allure and 112 and Mariah's version of the track remained unreleased.
