The 7th Annual BET Walk of Fame was a 2001 music special hosted by Robert Townsend that honored the legendary R&B recording artist Patti LaBelle as the recipient the 2001 BET Walk of Fame Award. The event was held at the BET Studios in Washington, DC, and aired October 30, 2001, on BET. Mariah made a surprise appearance during the finale and joined Patti singing “Lady Marmalade.” Unfortunately, since Mariah didn't have a microphone, she had to share it with Patti and could only sing a couple adlibs.
