“I Wish You Well“ is a song from Mariah's E=MC² album, released in 2008. “‘I Wish You Well’ is a song that I wrote the music with James Poyser and I had the basic outline,” Mariah said about the song's writing process. “I wanted to work with my friend MaryAnn Tatum, who is an amazing singer, she's one of my best friends. It's very personal to me and it even starts out with ‘This goes out to you and you and you know who you are’ but it's a very spiritual song and I think that's important, for me, to write those types of songs because people need to hear them. It's very specific to me, but anybody could apply it to their own lives. It's about freeing yourself because by forgiving somebody, you free yourself from being in a bad place.”
