Released on February 12, 2014, as the second single from Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, “You're Mine (Eternal)” is a song co-written and co-produced with hit-maker Rodney Jerkins. “This is one of the first songs I wrote for the album. It was always one of my favorites but it evolved, and then there's the remix with Trey Songz which is now steadily becoming my favorite version,” Mariah explained. “I wrote the song with Rodney Jerkins, we got together and we were both in the same page musically. We just decided, ‘Let's go with what we're feeling.’ It's a very simplistic track yet if you muted the vocals, a rapper could be on top of it.”
Mariah enlisted singer Trey Songz for a duet version of the song and teamed up with Fedde Le Grand, Chus & Ceballos and Gregor Salto, among others, for the dance remixes, which took “You're Mine (Eternal)” to the top of Billboard's Dance Club Songs chart on May 10, 2014.

The “You're Mine (Eternal)” music video was directed by Indrani and filmed at El Yunque National Forest in Puerto Rico. “I was involved every step of the way,” Mariah said about the video shoot. “There was a moment where I had to do an additional water sequence with no director, just myself and a camera man on an underwater camera. I was looking at the take this morning. They're ready to kill me, but if we didn't have those shots there wouldn't be anything to cut away to, except me.” The video premiered on MTV on February 12, 2014, while the duet version made its debut two days later on BET's 106 & Park.
