My All

On April 6, 1998, “My All” was sent to US radios as a single from Mariah's Butterfly album. “‘My All’ is one of the more passionate songs in my catalog.” Mariah wrote about the song on the #1 To Infinity liner notes. “I really love singing it! It takes me back to a really specific moment in my life where I fell in love with love.”

In the United States, “My All” was commercially released as a double-sided single with “Breakdown” on April 21, 1998. After selling 122,000 copies, the song entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number two. Two weeks later, it became Mariah's thirteenth number-one song on the chart, tying her with Michael Jackson for third place among acts with the most number-one singles. “My All” spent twelve consecutive weeks inside the Top 10 and was certified 2x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America on November 17, 2022.

“My All” became Mariah's fourteenth Top 10 hit in the United Kingdom, peaking at number four on the Official Singles Chart dated June 13, 1998. The song was certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry on April 6, 2018. In Australia, “My All” peaked at number thirty-nine and was certified Gold by the Australian Recording Industry Association on October 21, 2020.

Remixes

Mariah recorded new vocals for the So So Def Remix of the song, which interpolates the song “Stay A Little While, Child” by Loose Ends and features rappers Lord Tariq and Peter Gunz. David Morales was in charge of the dance remixes, while UK-based R&B producers Full Crew worked on two remixes of the song featuring verses by rappers W.L. Wolfgang and Rickardo “The Dreadlocked Lyricist.” Mariah recorded a Spanish version of the song, titled “Mi Todo,” which was also remixed by Brazilian DJ Ipocratis “Grego” Bourniellis.

Music Video

Album Version

The black-and-white music video was directed by Herb Ritts and filmed at the Sony Picture Studios in California. It premiered on MTV on March 19, 1998, and features Mariah lying on an overturned vessel and on a large conch shell, longing for her estranged partner. Mariah reunites with her lover — played by Ralph Lauren model Matt King — on top of a lighthouse. “I really really loved working with Herb Ritts because I always wanted to work with him and I was so happy to have the opportunity to do it on ‘My All,’ ” Mariah told MTV. “I knew I didn't have to worry about anything, I knew that he was more of a perfectionist that me.”

The music video for “My All / Stay Awhile” was directed by Diane Martel and shot in a grainy fashion to simulate a home video.

In the United States, “My All” was released as a double A-side with “Breakdown.” The Single, including both songs, was available on CD, Cassette and Video Single (containing both music videos). The “My All / Breakdown” Maxi Single was released on CD and contained three additional remixes: The Mo' Thugs Remix of “Breakdown,” the Mobb Deep Mix of “The Roof” and the Fly Away Club Mix of “Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise).” The 12" Vinyl includes the Classic Club Mix of “My All,” the Mobb Deep Mix of “The Roof,” The Mo' Thugs Remix of “Breakdown,” and the Fly Away Club Mix of “Fly Away (Butterfly Reprise).”

A Maxi Single for “My All / Stay Awhile” was released on June 9, 1998, on CD and 12" Vinyl, including two versions of the So So Def Remix (Main and Without Rap), two remixes of “My All,” produced by David Morales (“My” Club Mix and “Def” Club Mix) and the Morales Funky Club Mix of “The Roof.”

Europe

The European “My All” CD Single includes the Album Version and the Classic Radio Club Mix). Three Maxi Singles were also available, with CD 1 including the Album Version, two remixes of “My All” (Classic Radio Club Mix and Classic Club Mix) and the Mobb Deep Edit remix of “The Roof.” CD 2 includes two versions of the So So Def Remix of “My All / Stay Awhile” (Main and Without Rap), and the Morales “Def” Club Mix and Full Crew Main Mix of “My All.” CD 3 includes the Album Versions of “My All” and “The Roof” and the Classic Radio Club Mix of “My All” Europe also saw the release of a 12" Vinyl including the Album Version and three Morales remixes (Classic Club Mix, “My” Club Mix and Classic Radio Club Mix).

“My All” was released on June 1, 1998, in the United Kingdom. The “My All” Cassette Single includes the Album Version and the Morales Classic Radio Mix. The British 12" Vinyl release includes four remixes of “My All” (Morales Classic Club Mix, Morales “My” Club Mix, So So Def Remix and Full Crew Main Mix) and three remixes of “The Roof” (Morales Funky Club Mix, Morales After Hours' Mix and Full Crews' Club Mix).

Australia

In Australia, “My All” was released on CD and Cassette, both including the Album Version and three remixes by David Morales: Classic Radio Club Mix, Classic Club Mix and “My” Club Mix. The Australian CD came with a bonus color sticker.

Japan

In Japan, “My All” was issued on a 3" CD including “Breakdown” as the Single's B-side.

Mexico
