Mariah included a cover of “Auld Lang Syne (The New Year's Anthem)” as the closing track on her second Christmas album, Merry Christmas II You, released in 2010. “Every time the new year comes, everybody will start to sing this song,” Mariah said about the song. “I started it slow and took it into a big uptempo, fun, celebratory moment. This is the excitement that the New Year should have — with a celebration of life, not with an old, sad, mellow song where everybody wants to cry.”
“Auld Lang Syne” was digitally released as a single on December 14, 2010, including remixes by Ralphi Rosario and Johnny Vicious.
