VH1 Divas 2000

Mariah was one of the headliners on VH1 Divas 2000: A Tribute To Diana Ross — An Honors Concert For The VH1 Save The Music Foundation, taped at New York City's Madison Square Garden on April 9, 2000. Mariah opened the show performing a medley of “Heartbreaker” and Diana Ross's “Love Hangover.” She also sang “Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme),” a duet with Diana Ross on “BabyLove / Stop! In The Name Of Love” and took part in the finale singing “Ain't No Mountain High Enough.”

The concert was never released commercially, but Mariah's performance of “Love Hangover / Heartbreaker” was included on the “Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)” CD single as well as on the digital “Heartbreaker” EP, released in 2020.

In 2024, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Mariah's Rainbow album, the live version of “Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)” from the VH1 Divas 2000 concert was included as a bonus track on the expanded edition of the album.

Lyrics

Love Hangover / Heartbreaker

If there's a cure for this
I don't want it, I don't want it
And if there's a remedy
I'll run from it, from it
I think about it all the time
Never let it out of my mind
'Cause I love you

I've got the sweetest hangover
I don't wanna get over
The sweetest hangover
I don't wanna get over
I don't wanna get, I don't wanna get
Over

Heartbreaker, you got the best of me
But I just keep on coming back incessantly
Oh, why did you have to run your game on me
I should have known right from the start
You'd go and break my heart

Oh, your love's so good
I don't wanna let go
And although I should
I can't leave you alone
'Cause you're so disarming
I'm caught up in the midst of you
And I cannot resist at all

Boy, if I do
The things you want me to
The way I used to do
Would you love me, baby
Or leave me feeling used?
Would you go and break my heart?

Heartbreaker, you got the best of me
But I just keep on coming back incessantly
Oh, why did you have to run your game on me?
I should have known right from the start
You'd go and break my heart

It's a shame to be
So euphoric and weak
When you smile at me
And you tell me the things
That you know persuade me to relinquish my love to you
But I cannot resist at all

Heartbreaker, you got the best of me
But I just keep on coming back incessantly
Oh, why did you have to run your game on me?
I should have known right from the start
You'd go and break my heart

I don't need no cure
I don't need no cure
I don't need no cure
Sweet love hangover

Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet love hangover, love hangover
Sweet, sweet, sweet, sweet love
Sweet, sweet love
Love, love

Don't call the doctor
Don't call my mama
Don't call the preacher
No, I don't need it
I don't want it

(Love to love ya) I love to love ya, baby
(Love to love ya) I love to love ya, baby
Sweet love, I need you
(Love to love ya) Love me, love me
Love me, love me
If there's a cure for this, I don't want it

If there's a cure for this, I don't want it
I don't want it, no
Don't want, don't need
'Cause if there's a cure for this, I don't need it

Heartbreaker, you got the best of me
But I just keep on coming back incessantly
Oh, why did you have to run your game on me?
I should have known right from the start
You'd go and break my heart

Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)

They can say anything they want to say
Try to bring me down
But I will not allow
Anyone to succeed
Hanging clouds over me
And they can try hard to make me feel
That I don't matter at all
But I refuse to falter
In what I believe
Or lose faith in my dreams

'Cause there's a light in me
That shines brightly
They can try
But they can't take that away from me
From me

They can do anything they want to you
If you let them in
But they won't ever win
If you cling to you pride
And just push them aside
See
I have learned there's an inner peace I own
Something in my soul
That they can not possess
So I won't be afraid
And darkness will fade

'Cause there's light in me
That shines brightly
They can try
But they can't take that away from me

No
They can't take this
Precious love
I'll always have inside me
Certainly the Lord will guide me
Where I need to go

They can say anything they want to say
Try to break me down
But I won't face the ground
I will rise steadily
Sailing out of their reach

Oh Lord
They do try hard to make me feel
That I don't matter at all
But I refuse to falter
In what I believe
Or lose faith in my dreams

'Cause there's a light in me
That shines brightly
They can try
But they can't take that away from me
From me

BabyLove / Stop! In The Name Of Love

Baby love, my baby love
I need ya, oh how I need ya
But all you do is treat me bad
You break my heart and leave me sad
Tell me what did I do wrong
To make you stay away so long

'Cause baby love, my baby love
I've been missing ya, I miss kissing ya
Instead of breaking up
Let's do some kissing and making up
And don't throw our love away
In my arms why don't you stay?

Baby love, my baby love
Why must we separate my love?
All of my whole life through (Don't throw our love away)
I never loved no one but you (Don't throw our love away)
Why you do me like you do
I got this need

Ooh, need to hold you once again my love
Feel your warm embrace, my love
Don't throw our love away
Please don't do me this way
I'm not happy like I used to be
Loneliness has got the best of me, my love
My baby love, I need ya, oh how I need ya

Why you do me like you do (Don't throw our love away)
After I've been true to you (Don't throw our love away)
So deep in love with you
Baby, baby, ooh
'Til it's hurtin' me, hurtin' me
Baby love, ooh, baby love
Don't throw our love away
Don't throw our love away
Don't throw our love away
Baby, baby, ooh

Stop in the name of love
Before you break my heart

Baby baby, I'm aware of where you go
Each time you leave my door
I watch you walk down the street
Knowing your other love you'll meet
And this time before you run to her
And leaving me alone and hurt

(Think it over) Haven't I been good to you?
(Think it over) Haven't I been sweet to you?

Stop in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Stop in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Think it over
Think it over

I've known of your, your secluded nights
I've even seen her, maybe one or twice
But is her sweet expression
Worth more than my love and affection?
This time before you leave my arms
And rush off to her charms
(Think it over) Haven't I been good to you?
(Think it over) Haven't I been sweet to you?

Stop in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Stop in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Think it over
Think it over

I've tried so hard, hard to be patient
Hoping you'd stop this infatuation
But each time you are together
I'm so afraid of losing you forever

Stop in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Stop in the name of love
Before you break my heart
Stop!

Ain't No Mountain High Enough

If you need me, call me
No matter where you are, no matter how far
Just call my name, I'll be there in a hurry
On that you can depend and never worry

No wind, no rain
Or winter's cold can stop me, baby, baby
If you are my goal
No wind, no rain
Can stop me, baby
If you are my goal

I know, I know you must follow the sun
Wherever it leads, but remember
And if you should fall short of your desires
Remember life holds for you one guarantee You'll always have me

And if you should miss my lovin'
One of these old days
If you should ever miss the arms
That used to hold you so close
Just remember

Ain't no mountain high
Ain't no valley low enough
Ain't no river wide enough
To keep me from you
Ain't no mountain high
Ain't no valley low enough
Ain't no river wide enough
To keep me from you

Ain't no mountain high
Nothing can keep me, keep me from you
Ain't no mountain high
Nothing can keep me, keep me from you
