Billboard Hot 100

Mariah has a total of forty-nine entries on the Billboard Hot 100 including nineteen number-one singles, making her the solo artist with the most number-one songs on the chart and only one away from The Beatles' overall record 20. She is also the artist who has spent most weeks at number one since the chart's inception in 1958, with a total of ninety-three weeks.

Breaking records since the very beginning of her career, on October 12, 1991, Mariah became the first — and to date, only — artist in Hot 100 history to have their first five solo singles reach number one on the chart, with “Vision Of Love,” “Love Takes Time,” “Someday,” “I Don't Wanna Cry” and “Emotions.”

Mariah is the only artist to have ranked at number-one in four distinct decades. She has now placed at number one on the Hot 100 in a record-extending nineteen distinct years (per Hot 100 chart dates): 1990-2000, 2005-06, 2008, 2019-23. She also holds the record for the longest span of an artist ranking at number one on the Hot 100 chart: thirty-two years and five months, dating to her first week at number one on the chart dated August 4, 1990, with her debut single “Vision of Love.”

In 1995, Mariah became the first female artist to debut at number one on the Hot 100 with “Fantasy” (September 30, 1995). With two other number-one debuts (“One Sweet Day” in 1995 and “Honey” in 1997), she became the first artist to have three of their songs debut atop the chart. In 2005, she became the first female artist to occupy the top two spots on the Hot 100, with “We Belong Together” at number one and “Shake It Off” at number two.

Mariah and Boyz II Men's “One Sweet Day” was the longest running number-one single from 1996 to 2017, having reigned the chart for sixteen consecutive weeks. In 2005, Mariah became the only artist with two songs among the Top 10 hits with most weeks at number one when “We Belong Together” spent fourteen weeks atop the Hot 100.

Mariah's nineteenth number-one hit, “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” is also her record fifth song to top the chart for six weeks or more. When it topped the Hot 100 on December 21, 2019, it became the song with the longest journey to number one ever from an original release — over twenty-five years. “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is the only song in Hot 100 history to have led in five distinct runs on the ranking (2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023). It holds the record for the longest span from a song's first week atop the Hot 100 to its latest — over three years and two weeks — and is the holiday song with the most weeks at number one.
