The World Music Awards honored Mariah with the Female Pop Artist of the Millenium award during their 2000 ceremony, held on May 10 in Monaco. “This is a completely and totally bizarre experience for me, to be receiving the award for artist of the millenium,” she said during the acceptance speech. “It's the same award that Michael Jackson is receiving, and he's been making number-one records prior to my birth. He's truly a legend and I just feel blessed to be here tonight.”
