On September 7, 2025, MTV awarded Mariah with her very first VMA. The Music Television Network honored Mariah with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, recognizing her as one of the best-selling female artists of all time, with iconic music videos to back up her acclaimed pen. “I can't believe I'm getting my first VMA tonight,” Mariah joked during her acceptance speech. “I just have one question: What in the Sam Hill were you waiting for?!” Mariah, who also took home the VMA for best R&B video, also performed a medley of some of her biggest hits as well as her two latest singles: “Type Dangerous” and “Sugar Sweet.”
