American Music Award of Achievement

In 2008, Mariah became a recipient of her second American Music Award of Achievement, previously presented to her in 2000. The American Music Award of Achievement is presented for rare and distinguished accomplishments. The American Music Awards celebrated Mariah for surpassing two of the longest-standing records in music history, formerly held by Elvis Presley: In 2008, she became the solo artist with the most number-one hits of all time, and for spending more weeks at number one than any other artist in the history of recorded music.
