American Music Award of Achievement

In 2000, Mariah became the third recipient of the American Music Award of Achievement, previously presented to Michael Jackson and Prince. The American Music Award of Achievement is presented for rare and distinguished accomplishments. The American Music Awards celebrated Mariah for being the only artist in Rock and Roll history to have a number-one single in every year of the decade, for having more number-one singles than any other solo female artist, for surpassing the Beatles as the artist with most weeks of number one in the Pop singles chart, for selling over 128 million records worldwide and becoming the best-selling artist of the nineties.
