“Hypnotized” is a song from Mariah's demo tape that didn't make the cut for her debut album. “That song was the best song on my demo and the label was like, ‘It's too R&B’ ” Mariah told Rob Markman in 2018. “Now I realize why, because it was a sparse record with just chords and the beat, and it was a pretty melody, kind of like a minor haunting kind of a sound. I would've loved it on the first album.”
