On her memoir, The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, Mariah mentions meeting Ben Margulies for the first time during a recording session with Gavin Cristopher of a song called “Just Can't Hold It Back.” “I met Ben Margulies when I was sixteen years old,” Mariah explained during a 1990 interview. “We needed someone to come and play the keyboards for a song that I had written with a guy named Gavin Christopher. By accident we stumbled upon Ben and he came to the session. He can't really play keyboards very well either, he's really more of a drummer so it became like a big ordeal. After that day we sort of kept in touch and we got together and we just sort of clicked as writers together.”
